I’ve filled many roles in my time in the Duluth Public Schools, but being the Innovation Coordinator is the creme de la creme! The idea for the Innovation Department began in December 2013 and has endured many iterations and bumps to become what it is today. I am proud to be a part of this team and excited about the opportunities for our students and teachers. When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and trying new menu items at our local restaurants.
I've been with Duluth Public Schools since 2012. Before taking the innovation position, I was a field tech with the technology department. Some of you may have seen me roaming around the middle schools fixing computers and Smart Boards. I'm extremely excited to be part of this new department and am ready to get out into the schools to inspire teachers to bring technology into the classroom. I went to school for computer science and bring a strong technical background to this new position. Outside of work, you will definitely find me outdoors. I can usually be found ripping up the local mountain bike trails or seeking out some waterfalls in my whitewater kayak.
I have worked for the district for the past year to help with the transition to Google Sites, and am excited to be a part of this new team! I graduated from UMD with a bachelors in history and secondary social studies education. My favorite part about student teaching was creating fun and engaging lessons for my students using technology, and allowing them to explore creative options for their projects using new tech tools! I also enjoy playing video games, hiking cool trails around Duluth, and drinking ridiculous amounts of tea!
